BLUE AND GOLD RENOVATION - CHAPPAQUA, NY

Prior to renovation, this Westchester house was outdated and could not function well for the daily routines of the owners.  The client wanted to add a lot of elements and functions with minimal addition of space.  We needed to create a hardworking, multi-functional space that was still elegant.

On the first floor, the client wanted a unique space that could function well for day to day activities, as well as make entertaining easier.  The garage was bumped out toward the front of the house, and we used space at the back of the garage to create a much-needed mudroom and laundry room.  A covered terrace was added off the family room.  Inside, we wanted to create space for a kitchen, banquet, breakfast bar, and wet bar, without crowding the space. The outside wall of the kitchen was bumped-out by 4 feet, and the family room wall removed to open the two spaces – creating a better flow.  This allowed access into the banquette in the center of the kitchen.  Opposite the guest counter is a wet bar and pantry cabinet and serving counters.  Waterfall counter tops were added to complement the client’s modern take on a glamorous kitchen.

As part of the renovation, the entire master suite was remodeled to function more efficiently.  What was a sitting room at the top of the stairs was remodeled to be a new master bathroom.  An existing closet was turned into a shower.  The footprint of the bathroom is not large.  Simple elements allow the room to feel more open and spacious.  Colors and patterns of cabinetry, fixtures, and tiles add dimension and texture.  The result is an elegant and serene space.
